Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an aqueous emulsified and dispersed type asphalt modifier mixable and soluble in a hot asphalt or an asphalt emulsion by a simple method, capable of improving the flow resistance, toughness and low-temperature flexibility of an asphalt without deteriorating the executability and good in stability with the lapse of days and mechanical stability.
SOLUTION: This asphalt modifier comprises an aqueous emulsified dispersion of a thermoplastic elastomer emulsified and dispersed in the presence of at least one kind of nonionic emulsifying agent selected from the group consisting of a styrenated phenol polyalkylene oxide adduct, a polyalkylene polyamine alkylene oxide adduct, a polyhydric alcohol fatty acid ester, a polyhydric alcohol fatty acid ester polyalkylene oxide adduct and a benzylated phenol polyalkylene oxide adduct and an anionic emulsifying agent. The resultant asphalt modifier is used for an asphalt.
