PURPOSE: A vibration-damping material, with improved vibration-damping properties, corrosion resistance and thick-coating properties, which comprises an asphaltic material, a powdered filler, an additive, a solvent and a fibrous filler containing a polyethylene fiber and a regulated or smaller amount of a mineral inorganic fiber.

CONSTITUTION: In a coating-type vibration-damping material, comprising an asphaltic material, a powdered filler, an additive, a fibrous filler and a solvent, it contains, as the fibrous filler, 0.05W5wt% of a polyethylene fiber of average fiber length 0.2W2.0mm, having 1% or less moisture, and 5wt% or less of a mineral inorganic fiber. A polyethylene fiber of average fiber length ≤0.2mm, is not effective as a fiber and is inferior in thick-coating property and storage stability, but one of average length ≥2mm does not well disperse in the vibration-damping material, failing in corrosion resistance and storage stability. The amount of said mineral inorganic fiber material, is severely restricted to 5% or lower by legal regulation.
