To improve an electric discharge characteristics and increase the longevity by increasing absorption of impure gas with a getter material.
In a gas discharge type display panel 200 which has a discharge space 9 placed between a surface substrate 1 and a back substrate 2 provided with an electrode on at least one end, a getter valve 20 which has a thin tube 21 for getter installation and a getter chamber 22 at one end is provided on the other side of the back substrate 2. After a getter material 7 is stored to the getter chamber 22 from the thin tube 21 for getter installation immediately before proceeding from sealing processes to exhaust/gas introduction processes, the getter material 7 is installed by tipping off the thin tube 21 for getter installation.
