Abstract:
To provide enhanced systems and techniques that facilitate production and assembly of aircraft wings using an assembly line.SOLUTION: A method for assembling a wing includes: suspending an upper wing panel 550 of an aircraft below a shuttle 540; moving and positioning ribs 572; arranging the ribs 572 so as to contact the upper wing panel 550; and then, attaching the ribs 572 to the upper wing panel 550, in a state that the upper wing panel 550 remains suspended. Several methods include installing the ribs 572 and spars on the upper wing panel 550. The system includes: the shuttle 540 for suspending the upper wing panel 550; a cart including a support body for holding the ribs 572; a chassis for moving the ribs 572 to a position below the upper wing panel 550; and a lifting device for lifting the ribs 572 and bringing them into contact with the upper wing panel 550.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5D
