Abstract:
To provide a tire/wheel assembly that is able to exhibit good run-flat traveling performance.SOLUTION: An elastically deformable, hollow elastic body (4) is disposed in a space defined by a pneumatic tire (1) and a wheel rim (2). The hollow elastic body is composed of an elastically deformable single foam sponge or a single envelope foam. The hollow elastic body expands and contracts according to the air pressure of a tire space (5), and the outer diameter of the hollow elastic body is changed in position according to the air pressure of the tire space. When internal pressure drops due to a puncture, the hollow elastic body expands, so that a load is supported by the pneumatic tire and the hollow elastic body. As a result, good run-flat traveling performance is obtained and a burden on a tread portion is reduced. Further, since the hollow elastic body has a through-hole that allows an internal space to communicate with the tire space, the hollow elastic body is deformed in a flat shape by exhausting the internal space. Thus, the hollow elastic body can be fitted inside the pneumatic tire.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
