To provide an asymmetric catalyst and to study the asymmetiric allylic substitution reaction of a palladium catalyst containing a diphosphite ligand 4a as a ligand obtained by incorporating various substituents into this diphosphite ligan, since a palladium catalyst containing a diphosphite ligand 4a as a ligand provides very high enantioselectivity in an asymmetiric allylic substitution reaction.
A catalyst obtained by incorporating an electron-withdrawing group such as a trifluoromethyl group into a benzene ring of the diphosphite ligand and coordinating palladium to the resulting diphosphite ligand has excellent catalyst activity and asymmetric discrimination. The asymmetric catalyst is obtained by coordinating a platinum group metal to this phosphate-containing ligand.
