Title:
ASYMMETRIC POLYMER FILM, METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME, AND USE THEREOF
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2011190445
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide such a polymer membrane on the basis of a polyazole which is obtained by a feasible process, as assumes a uniform acid-doping across the whole cross section of the membrane.

The asymmetric polymer film is based on a polyazole with a specific structure, and has a smooth surface and a rough surface, with the roughness of the smooth surface being less than 2 μm and that of the rough surface 3-10 μm, and preferably, is added additionally with a proton-conducting filler. The asymmetric, polyazole-based polymer film, resulting from the asymmetric structure, can undergo the doping rapidly and uniformly with an acid to thereby form a proton-conductive membrane, and, resulting from the excellent chemical, thermal and mechanical characteristics, is especially suitable for manufacturing a polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) for use in so-called PEM fuel cells.
