PURPOSE: To enable safe and highly accurate analysis eliminating a disturbance when a cooling water is passed by providing a function of starting the passage of water in linkage with the start of igniting a flame and stopping it in linkage with the extinguishing of the flame.
CONSTITUTION: A flame 4 is formed using a burner 3 and a misty sample is introduced into a chamber 5 to measure elements in the sample with the atomization thereof. A control section 6 applies an order to open a shut-off valve 2 in linkage with the ignition of the flame 4 and a the passage of water is started to cool the burner 3. The cooling water is discharged 7 as unnecessary after the cooling. An order is applied to close the shut-off valve 2 in linkage with the extinguishment of the flame 4 and the passage of water is halted to stop the cooling of the burner 3. The control section 6 also has a function to allow the setting of time for 0-30min. until an order for closing the shut-off valve 2 after the extinguishing of the flame. Thus, the time to the halting of the passage of water from the extinguishing of the flame can be set as desired. This achieves the conservation of a cooling water while the flame 4 is not used and eliminate excessive cooling thereby enabling the prevention of a dew formation on the burner 3.
