PURPOSE: To ensure easy attachment of the sleeve plate to the printing roll by providing a cushion layer of compressed air between the printing roll on which a beveled part is provided and the sleeve plate, and performing attachment.
CONSTITUTION: A plurality of air blowing small holes 4 are provided in the same circumference of the printing roll in the vicinity of an end 1a on the side of attaching and detaching the sleeve plate. The beveled part 1b, whose diameter gradually decreases from the position slightly seperated from the circumference line on which the small holes 4 are located to the end 1a, is formed on the printing roll 1. The opening part of the sleeve plate 2 comprising a thin film shaped metal layer having a recessed cell for gravure printing is contacted with the printing roll 1, guided by the beveled part 1b, and pushed until the end of the sleeve plate 2 covers the small holes 4 in the roll 1. Then the compressed air is supplied in the roll 1 through a hose 5 and radially blown out of the small holes 4. The diameter of the sleeve plate 2 is expanded by the elastic deformation due to the presence of the cushion layer of the compressed air between the sleeve plate 2 and the roll 1. Thus the sleeve plate 2 is attached to the roll 1.
