PURPOSE: To always display a correct state of audio multiplex by providing a path sending an audio multiplex state display inhibit signal from a channel selection control means to a display control means and allowing the channel selection control means to control whether or not the audio multiplex state is directly to be displayed.
CONSTITUTION: A channel control means 2 sends a data of a frequency and a band of a channel to be received to a tuner 3. Moreover, an audio multiplex state display inhibit signal is sent simultaneously to a display control means 7. Then whether or not the state is an optimum reception state based on an AFC voltage and the presence of a synchronizing signal is discriminated and a frequency data fed to the tuner 3 is changed. When the state reaches the optimum state, the audio multiplex state display inhibit signal sent to the display control means 7 is interrupted. The audio multiplex state display inhibit signal is being outputted from the start of channel selection till its termination and the audio multiplex state display inhibit signal is interrupted when the channel selection is finished and the station is able to be received stably. Thus, a display means 8 displays the correct audio multiplex state quickly.
