PURPOSE: To provide automated exhaust for sheets in double feed without stop ping the continued sheet feeding operation by driving a sheet exhausting shutter, installed on a sheet feeder table, on the basis of received detection signal for double feed.
CONSTITUTION: Sheets 10 are set on a sheet feeding frame 9 and fed to a table 12 using a sheet feeding roller 11. Double feed sensing devices 18 are provided in front of and behind the point where sheets pass a feed roller 13. In normal condition, the sheets are sent to the next feed roller 14. If here the double feed sensing devices 18 sense double feeding, a solenoid 19 is actuated to open down a double fed sheets exhausting shutter 15, and the sheets pass a guide plate 16 and are stored in a stacker 17. An appropriate timing thereafter, the solenoid 19 is deenergized and the shutter 15 is returned to the normal position. Thus double fed sheets can be treated without requiring stop of the continued sheet feeding operation.
