PURPOSE: To obtain an apparatus for a lens meter which can automatically perform alignment of lenses to be inspected without depending on manual work of an operator by including two hands, a hand interval altering means and a hand movement control means.
CONSTITUTION: When a lens to be inspected is placed on a lens table 532, with the rotation of an arm drive motor 522, hands 530 and 531 move to narrow the interval therebetween because of a crossing structure of arms 526 and 527 thereby grasping the edge of the lens.then, a lens holding ring at a lens holding section lowers to press the lens surface. Under such a condition, as a Z-axis feed motor is rotated, a Z-axis table 501 lowers and hence, the lens lowers as grasped between the hands 530 and 531 to have the back thereof abutting on a lens holding pin. The lens thus held is moved in the direction Y together with an X-axis base with the rotation of a Y-axis drive motor 502 while being done together with an arm base 520 in the direction X with the rotation of an X-axis drive motor 504.
