To provide an automatic method for coating a culture medium with a specimen, being cheaper and more precise compared to a conventional mechanized method for coating a medium with the specimen, and further capable of dealing with any coating pattern and various specimens.
A specimen is applied by being brought into contact with a medium such as an agar in a culture vessel 1 by using an elastic wire having a loop shape and made of a synthetic resin fiber yarn such as a nylon or a fluororesin, a metal wire such as a soft copper wire, etc., and moving the culture vessel 1 to draw arbitrary tracks in the method for automatically coating the specimen. By using the method, a contamination is eliminated because the coating of the specimen is carried out by successively supplying the readily processable elastic wire formed into the loop shape for coating, and further the coating is quantitatively and regularly carried out while always keeping the uniformity. The production cost of the whole device is low and the operating cost is lowered. The resin wire is cheaper than a disposable platinum loop or a cotton swab, and thereby, the running cost is reduced. Further the method can be applied to both coatings of a coating for separation and a chemical sensitivity coating.
