PURPOSE: To increase the speed of an operation by providing a visual device for extracting characteristics, identifying, and selecting, on each stage layer of a cable in which a number of fine diameter core lines are collected on each stage layer of a unit, a sub-unit, a quad, and a core line.
CONSTITUTION: A 100-pair unit 2 separated from a cable 1 by means of a manipulator 7-1 is identified by a visual device 7-1 composed of a TV camera. Similarly, a 10-pair sub-unit 3, a 2-pair quad 4, and a core line 5 which are separated from the 100-pair unit 2 in order by means of manipulators 7-2, 7-3, 7-4 respectively are identified by distinguishing the color of rough winding tapes by means of visual devices 6-2, 6-3, 6-4 respectively. Thus, the distinguishing operation for each stage layer of a cable structure can be performed in parallel increasing the speed of a connecting operation.
