PURPOSE: To control the supply of the moistening water automatically in response to the areal rate of the picture section of a printing original plate by controlling atomizing time or a quiescent period at every nozzle in response to the density of each section of a picture obtained by dividing and scanning the printing original plate.
CONSTITUTION: The atomizing time tn or the quiescent periods sn are controlled at every each nozzle 22 while keeping the pressure of pressure air for atomizing of the nozzles 22 constant in response to picture density signals at every each nozzle atomizing width aWh acquired by dividing and scanning the printing original plate, and the moistening water corresponding to the areal rate of the picture section of the printing original plate is supplied automatically. For example, water is distributed to the spray nozzles 22, which are mutually adjoined in parallel with an ink cylinder 11, etc. and mounted so that the atomizing width of respective nozzle corresponds to several section of the printing original plate, by pipings by gravity, etc. from a moistening water supply source 15, and air having constant pressure is distributed through solenoid valves 20 from a pressure air source 16. The switching of the solenoid valves 20 is controlled by means of an automatic control section 19, the pressure air is fed intermittently, and the quantity of the moistening water is automatically controlled.
