PURPOSE: To provide a method to automatically carry out proper dressing enabling improvement of grinding machining performance and automatic continuous machining in addition to forming (truing) of a super-abrasive grinding wheel.
CONSTITUTION: On a rotation axis 23 of a truing dressing device 21, a diamond wheel 24 for truing and a dressing grinding stone 25 are installed in parallel, and by finding diameter of a grinding wheel 11 by way of computing from a total slitting amount at the time when the super-abrasive grain grinding wheel 11 is trued by the diamond wheel 24, the grinding wheel diameter to memorize in advance is renewed. Dressing is carried out by finding dressing coordinate from the renewed grinding wheel diameter and diameter of the dressing grinding wheel 25, and by renewing memory by way of finding the new dressing grinding wheel diameter from a total slitting amount at this time of dressing by means of computation and by comparing the previously memorized dressing grinding wheel minimum diameter with the renewed dressing grinding wheel diameter, when the renewed dressing grinding wheel diameter is smaller than the minimum diameter, dressing grinding wheel exchange timing is displayed by a CRT, a lamp and others.
