PURPOSE: To beautifully perform the filling treatment of a large number of arranged characters at a stroke by providing character frames capable of performing operation in desired density to the outer peripheries of real characters so as to surround the same and presetting the correlation of the adjacent character frames to perform control.

CONSTITUTION: Character frames almost similar in shape are set to the outer peripheries of characters/figures so as to surround the same and it is determined whether the outer edge parts of the adjacent character frames come into contact with each other or the character frames are superposed one upon another by indication and, with respect to a superposed area (volume), the numerical value thereof is controlled constant to perform filling treatment. In this case, an operator operates an input part 1 manually to set the kind and arrangement of the characters/figures on the basis of the afforded data from a bank (I) 2 and the character frames and the superposed area (volume) are determined on the basis of the data from a bank (II) 2' in the same way to be operated in a central processing unit 3. The operation result is displayed on a display part 4 and correcting operation is applied to obtain desired completed character arrangement which is, in turn, stored in a memory part 5 and outputted to an output part 6 as block copy output and the beautiful arrangement of the characters/ figures is obtained.
