To reliably judge the existence of a passenger without using an inspection guide broadcasting device by judging whether or not there is a car call in a car by putting out illumination in the car after judging whether or not it is responding time such as a car call, and interrupting automatic inspection operation by judging that there is a passenger at least in either case.
A CPU 61 judges that there is no passenger in a car 1 when confirming a condition where a door is closed for a constant time, the nonexistence of a car call and the nonexistence of an ascending and descending hall call. When either one is detected, it is judged that there is a passenger, and the practice of automatic inspection operation is interrupted. When judged that there is no passenger, illumination in the car 1 is put out. When there is a passenger in the car 1, since an opening button or a closing button or a car call registering button in the car 1 is pushed by trying to go out of the car 1 by noticing that it is different from ordinary operation since illumination in the car 1 is put out, when these are detected, it is judged that there is a passenger in the car 1, and the automatic inspection operation is interrupted.
