PURPOSE: To generate an exchange table for a newly installed station automatically and to correct an exchange table of existing stations automatically by providing a content table with required information described therein to each existing station in advance to generate the exchange table.
CONSTITUTION: Each exchange station 11 forming a packet exchange network is provided with an exchange table 13 storing line numbers according to priority depending on number of relay stations when a packet is sent to a destination station via each line 12 accommodated to each station 11. Then each station is provided with a content table 14 storing a minimum relay station number sending a packet to a destination station via each line accommodated in the station and names of relay stations to be passed through for each destination station and for each line. When a newly installed station in the packet exchange network is subscribed, the content table of each opposite station is referenced by the newly installed station to generate an exchange table of a concerned station and each opposite station references the content table of the newly installed station to correct the content table of the concerned station and to correct the exchange table of the concerned station based on the content table.
