To provide an automatic safe-deposit box system and a method for managing the same capable of protecting an article deposited in a safe-deposit box from fire even if the fire occurs while the safe-deposit box is carried out into a reviewing room.
This automatic safe-deposit box system 1 is provided with a reviewing table 2 provided outside a safe-deposit box room 8, a conveyance mechanism 3 for conveying the safe-deposit box 10 along a conveyance path crossing the reviewing table 2 and the safe-deposit box room 8, a fire-retardant shutter 4 capable of closing a delivery entrance 9 formed on the conveyance path on a wall surface partitioning the safe-deposit box room 8 from the reviewing room in which the reviewing table 2 is provided, and the management device 6. The management device 6 has a conveyance control part 64 for controlling the conveyance mechanism 3 and a fire monitoring part 67 for determining that abnormality such as fire occurs. When the fire monitoring part 67 determines that abnormality such as fire occurs while the safe-deposit box 10 is carried out on the reviewing table 2, this management device controls closing of the fire-retardant shutter 4 after letting the conveyance mechanism 3 carry the carried-out safe-deposit box 10 into the safe-deposit box room 8.
