To put bias in the same front-rear and top-reverse order by arranging an inverting mechanism which invert the front-rear and top-reverse directions of bills and an inverting mechanism which inverts the top-reverse directions of the bills in the automatic teller machine, and connecting the inverting mechanisms by a conveyance path which by-passes or passes through the inverting mechanisms according to the states of bills.
Bills which are conveyed, one by one, separately from a cassette 20 are supplied to a discriminating device 4 to decide the money kinds, normal/ spoiled states, multiple feeding, front-rear directions, top-reverse directions, etc., of the bills, and upside-down and backward bills are temporarily stacked in a money reception/payment opening 2 in the front-rear and top-reverse directions. Forward bills by-pass the inverting mechanism 100 and the upside- down bills are turned over by the inverting mechanism 100 and loaded in an internal save 3. When the upside-down and backward bills reach a specific quantity, the separation from the cassette 20 is temporarily stopped, and they are stored in the internal safe 3 as forward bills by by-passing or passing through the inverting mechanism 100.
