PURPOSE: To provide an automatic-water-supply-type cordless steam iron capable of automatically changing the amount of steam to be generated to an amount suitable for a set temperature, in compliance with the switching of the set temperature of the base.

CONSTITUTION: When the main body 1 of an iron is put on a stand 26 and a conductive state is produced, a secondary battery 45 is charged by the power supplied from outside, a water pumping device 12 is operated to supply water, and the water in a main tank 32 is supplied to an auxiliary tank 6. When the main body of the iron is separated from the stand and an uncharged state is produced, the water pumping device 12 is operated to discharge water by the power supplied from the secondary battery 45, the water in the auxiliary tank is sent to a branch conduit 13, a second circulation control valve 18 is opened to send the water in the auxiliary tank to a vaporizing chamber 7 through the branch conduit, and steam is generated. Then, a controller 22 controls the on-off of the power to a heater 2, so that the temperature of a base 3 measured by a temperature sensor keeps the fixed temperature of the base set by a temperature switch 24.
