Abstract:
PURPOSE:To make it possible to control a steering unit suitable to a maritime weather irrespective of deviations in azimuth due to incomplete adjustment of an autopilot, by grasping the condition of maritime weather with the use of a heaving detecting device in addition to a deviation in azimuth to control a steering unit. CONSTITUTION:In an PID controlled automatic steering unit, upon a bad maritime weather the stability of a hull is decreased, a signal indicating deviations in azimuth is increased, and an ineffective steering operation occures, causing a large steering angle and a great cycle number of steering operation due to a large deviation in azimuth and a large turn angle, but a ship may not advance in straight due to bad maritime weather. In this arrangement, a devitation signal phie concerting the azimuth is delivered to a steering unit amplifier 2 through a weather adjustment circuit 13 including a first order lag circuit, and therefore, upon bad weather condition an apparently small turn angle is delivered due to the first order lag. However, since the above- mentioned measures are insufficient to set the ship in a set course, the proportional gain K of the circuit 13 is incrEased to prevent diversion while the gain K and time- constant of the circuit 13 are suitably controlled in accordance with the output of a microprocessor 12 or the condition of the maritime weather.
