In this automatic winder having a discharge passage 2 of a bobbin carrier (a tray T) with a bobbin placed thereon and a feed passage 3 of the bobbin carrier, and having a plurality of installation spaces S for one winding unit U, the bobbin feeder 12 dimensionally interchangeable with the winding unit U is installed in an arbitrary installation space S, the bobbin carrier to be discharged from the winding unit U can be received by the bobbin feeder 12 via the discharge passage 2, and the bobbin carrier can be fed to the winding unit U from the bobbin feeder 12 via the feed passage 3. Since the bobbin feeder 12 can thus be easily added, the number of kinds to be handled by, for example, one automatic winder can be easily changed.
