To provide a method of designing an automobile interior component, which can prevent occurrence of whitening of a design surface of the automobile interior component without relying on a try and error method, and to reduce a manufacturing cost.
A discriminant is obtained based on a length A of a first side 31 of a rib 30 of an interior component 1, a length B of a second side 32, and a distance C between a connection part P of the first side 31 with the second side 32 and a third side 33. A value is obtained by substituting design values of the lengths A and B and the distance C in the discriminant, and whether whitening has occurred in a design surface 11 is estimated based on the value. Specifically, the design is made such that a parameter Z expressed by Z=0.4A+0.1B-1.6C+2.5 becomes 1.15 or higher.
