Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a technical means that is able to detect the extent of axial force acting on a spindle at the traveling side by means of only the program manipulation of a numerical control system in a highly accurate manner at the time of giving axial force to a work for a contact check between the work and the spindle in time of holding the work and prevention against chattering and, what is more, utilizable even for detection of separation of the work at the time of cutting-off operation.
CONSTITUTION: In an axial force controller equipped with a servo unit 11 controlling a headstock feed motor 5 on the basis of a position command (a) and a position feedback signal (b) and a maximum current setting means 17 setting a maximum current value to be given to the motor 5, a positional deviation (c) or differential signal between the position command (a) and the position feedback signal (b) is detected, comparing it with a setting value (d), and various control actions are performed on the basis of a control output (e) being generated at a time when a detected value (c) is reached to the setting value (d).
