PURPOSE: To improve sealing property, and prevent leak between scroll members by providing an improved axial compliance mechanism for resisting tendency of the scroll member to separate in an axial direction during operation.

CONSTITUTION: A fixed scroll frame 112, a fixed scroll plate 98, a connection pin 122 to connect the plate 98 to the frame 112 in such a way as to be separable in an axial direction are provided. A connection pin 82 to connect a rotary scroll plate 60 to a drive plate 72 is provided in such a way that the rotary scroll plate 60 and the drive plate 72 are separable in an axial direction. Between the scroll frame 112 and the fixed scroll plate 98, and between the drive plate 72 and the rotary scroll plate 60, seals 70, 110 held in non-coupled conditions by means of grooves 68, 108 formed in the scroll plate 98 are provided.
