PURPOSE: To obtain a novel compound useful for dyeing, etc., synthetic polyamide fibers, etc., which yields an yellow to orange level dyeing and has a good color fastness to rubbing, wet fastness and fastness to light.

CONSTITUTION: The novel compound is a compound of formula I (wherein R1, R2, R5 and R6 are each H, a 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C alkoxy or the like; R3 is H, a 1-4C alkyl or the like; R4 is H or a 1-4C alkyl; X is H, a 1-4C alkyl, 2-4C hydroxyalkyl or the like; Y is H, a 1-8C alkyl, 2-8C sulfatoalkyl or the like; and n is from 2 to 4), e.g. a compound of formula II. Here, the compound of the formula I is obtained by diazotizing a compound of formula III and coupling it with a compound of formula IV to obtain a compound of formula V, which is then diazotized, coupled with a compound of formula VI and introduced with the group-Y.
