PURPOSE: Titled pigment composition having excellent luster, flow and storage stability, and being suitable for use in paints and printing inks, prepared by adding a specified monoamine to an acetoacetanilide type azo pigment which has been treated with a diamine during its synthesis.
CONSTITUTION: In producing 100pts.wt. of an acetoacetanilide azo pigment, 3W 30pts.wt. of a diamine represented by formula I, wherein R1 is a 4W23C (substituted) alkyl or a heterocyclic ring and n is 1W4, is added to the reaction system thereby to form an amine-treated pigment (A). Titled pigment composition is obtained by mixing (i) 100pts.wt. of the pigment (A) with (ii) 1W20pts.wt. of an amine represented by formula II, wherein R2 is a 14W18C (substituted) alkyl. Preferably, the mixing of components (i) and (ii) is carried out in such a manner that when the pigment (A) is in a paste form, both of the components are physically milled and dried, and when the pigment (A) is in a dry form, both of the components are blended at below 80°C for 5W60min.
