To provide a fuel cell system using a two-position valve for controlling pressure in a fuel cell stack in a cathode exhaust gas output so as to control the relative humidity of the stack.
In an embodiment, the two-position valve is switchable between a perfectly opened position and a perfectly closed position, and the two-position valve is opened when the fuel cell system operates at a low operation temperature and closed when the fuel cell system operates at a high operation temperature. A fixed throttle valve is disposed in parallel with the two-position valve so that appropriate quantity of pressure is applied in the cathode exhaust gas output when the two-position valve is perfectly closed. In another embodiment, the two-position valve uses a leakage passage formed in a prescribed size so as to flow the cathode exhaust gas therethrough even when the two-position valve is set to the closed position.
