PURPOSE: To manufacture a back surface panel capable of having a desired light-emitting surface to increase the amount of light in the objective direction, and useful for the back light of a LCD cold cathode ray tube in good productivity, by molding the powder of raw materials into a prescribed shape and subsequently sintering the molded product.
CONSTITUTION: The powder of ceramic raw materials is molded into a prescribed shape and subsequently sintered to obtain a back surface panel for a LCD cold cathode tube back light. Since the raw material powder can thereby be molded into various shapes such as convex surface, triangular surface and spherical surface, a back surface panel capable of increasing the amount of light in an objective direction can be obtained. Frame glass plates are not required, and the joining processes on the manufacture of the back lights can be reduced to one time. The employment of a ceramic material permits to improve the thermal impact resistance, etc., of the back surface panel. The obtained back surface panel can be joined to a front surface panel having the same surface through a low temperature glass to provide a LCD cold cathode ray tube back light.
