The area of emission surface is divided into an upper end part, a center part, and the lower end part areas A1, A2, A3 along the orthogonal direction crossing at right angles the longitudinal direction of a plurality of cold cathode tubes (linear light source) 20a-20h. Furthermore, the amount of light of the outgoing light emitted from the cold cathode tubes 20d, 20e arranged so as to be opposed to the center part area A2 is made same or more than the amount of light of the outgoing light emitted from the cold cathode tubes 20a-20c, 20f-20h arranged so as to be opposed to each area A1, A3 of the upper end part and the lower end part.
