Abstract:
To provide a backlight with which a liquid crystal display device capable of performing desired blue display and excellent in color reproducibility can be obtained, and to provide a liquid crystal display device using the backlight.
The backlight includes a light source having: a first light source, which includes a near UV light-emitting element and a phosphor layer containing a red phosphor and a green phosphor and formed to cover the near UV light-emitting element; and a second light source, which includes a blue light-emitting diode.
