Abstract:
PURPOSE: To move and hold a movable roll to an arbitrary position of a backup shaft and surely shift and fix the movable roll without providing a movable roll shifting device by supplying, removing and adjusting pressure oil in a hydrau lic room provided on both sides of each taper sleeve.
CONSTITUTION: The pressure oil is supplied into the hydraulic rooms 42L, 42R through rotary joints 16L, 16R to move the positions of the movable rolls 11, 12 and the pressure oil in the hydraulic rooms 41L, 41R is removed into a tank. Under this state, the movable rolls 11, 21 and taper sleeves 13L, 13R are made loose, and then, the pressure oil is supplied by the rotary joint 16L into the hydraulic room, the pressure oil in the hydraulic room 42R is removed by the rotary joint 16R, and consequently, the movable rolls 11, 21 can be shifted to the right side. Then, when the pressure oil is supplied by the rotary Joints 16L, 16R into the hydraulic room 41L, 41R, the taper sleeves 13L, 13R and the movable rolls 11, 21 transmit the rotary torques of backup shafts 12, 13.
