PURPOSE: To secure the safety between a preceding vehicle and a following vehicle sufficiently in addition to the safety in relation to the preceding vehicle and the following vehicle even in the case where an occupant of the following vehicle can not ordinarily recognize the preceding vehicle to be recognized.
CONSTITUTION: A backward alarming device is provided with an alarm display 25 for generating an alarm to the backward of a vehicle, sensors 31-34 for generating the detecting output corresponding to the travelling condition of the vehicle, and an operation control unit 35 for judging the travelling condition of the vehicle on the basis of the detecting output from the sensors 31-34 and for operating the alarm display 25 in the case where an occupant of a following vehicle can not recognize a preceding vehicle, which stops or travels at a speed lower than the following vehicle, to be recognized ordinarily.
