Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bacteria carrier simple to produce, generating no damage, capable of being enhanced in bacteria bonding efficiency and requiring no washing even if used over a long period of time by constituting the carrier of a reticulated flat cylindrical member made of a synthetic resin having bending properties in its radius direction.
SOLUTION: A bacteria carrier 12 is constituted of a flat reticulated cylindrical member made of a synthetic resin with specific gravity of below 1.0 and having bending properties in its diameter direction. By flattening the bacteria carrier, a specific surface area per vol. is increased to increase the bonding efficiency of bacteria. By providing bending properties to the carrier in the diameter direction thereof, the flatness of the reticulated cylindrical member is changed when the cylindrical member is circulated and floated within treated water by stirring force and the clogging of the hollow part 14 of the cylindrical member caused by the excessive adhesion of bacteria can be prevented. The configurational specifications of the flat reticulated cylindrical member 12 are different according to the size of a water treatment tank, the kind of bacteria to be bonded or the like. Usually, flatness is about 2/3-1/5, the diameter (roundness) of the cylindrical, member is about 6-30mm, the length thereof is about 6-30mm, the thickness of net yarns 16, 18 is about 0.5-2mm and a mesh pitch is about 0.5-2mm in the warp 16 and about 1-5mm in the weft.
