Title:
BALL END MILL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH1190721
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To improve cutting accuracy by providing a V-shaped bottom blade in a nose part of a ball blade, by forming the bottom blade into a V-shaped cutting blade having an tool axis center and a linear part viewed from the vertical direction, and by specifying the medium/low inclinations of its linear part.

As for an inclined or a helical cutting, the medium/low inclinations of a V-shaped bottom blade 5 are set to 5-15° so that the bottom blade 5 effectively acts thereon to improve the cutting capability. When a curved face is machined by a copy scanning line or if a cutting point is changed at every moment, the cutting blade acts appropriately in the whole area from an outer circumferential cutting blade 3 to a circular arc ball blade 4 and the bottom blade 5 so as to eliminate any local from applying to the cutting blade. The linking part between the bottom blade 5 and the circular arc ball blade 4 is connected by a cutting blade having the roundness so as to reduce the local abrasion and has effects of maintaining the machining accuracy and improving the durability.
