Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ballast water treatment apparatus and method for suppressing or preventing the occurrence of operational defects in ballast water treatment using an aqueous solution prepared by dissolving a chlorine type chemical in water as a sterilizing agent.SOLUTION: A ballast water treatment apparatus includes a ballast pump 5 provided in the ballast water pipe 4, a filter device 6 provided on the downstream side of the ballast pump, a sterilizing agent supply device 20 for supplying a chlorine type sterilizing agent into the ballast water pipe, a sterilizing agent supply device, and a control device 40 for controlling the valve of the ballast water piping. The sterilizing agent supply device has a sterilizing agent dissolving device 21 for producing an aqueous solution in which solid chlorine type chemical is dissolved in fresh water by the fresh water supply line 21 J as a chlorine type sterilizing agent and a sterilizing agent pump 23 for supplying a chlorine type sterilizing agent to the ballast water piping. The control device controls the on-off valve V 3 on the outlet side of the filtering device, the opening and closing valve V 10 in the filtering device backwashing drain pipe 11, the sterilizing agent dissolving device 21, and the sterilizing agent pump, so as to perform a fresh water replacement operation for discharging the sterilizing agent residue in the sterilizing agent supply device with fresh water and delivering it to the ballast water piping.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
