Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide an inflation catheter having a small profile by forming it from a balloon in communication with the lumen of the body of catheter, a core member extending through the balloon till a periphery end part of the catheter body, and means to close tightly the periphery end part with the circumference of the core member. CONSTITUTION: A body 11 of a catheter 10 is equipped with a lumen 12, a balloon 13 to be attached to the periphery end part 14 of the catheter body, and a core member 15 extending through the lumen 12 to outside the periphery end part. A helical coil 16 is installed around the core member 15 and extends from the periphery end part 14 to be attached to a round plug 17 at the periphery end part. The lumen 12 is put in communication with inside the balloon 13 which is inflated through an inflation port 18 arranged on the wall 19 of the catheter body 11. An intermediate coil 20 is coupled with the core member 15 in a position near the round plug 17, and an adapter 25 is installed at the end of the catheter body 11.
