PURPOSE: To make it possible to eliminate hindrance during storage of bank notes even though the bank notes slightly creases, by providing a control section for moving a bottom plate so as to obtain a pressing condition suitable for pay-out of bank notes.

CONSTITUTION: During storage a bottom plate 25 is moved so that the upper surface of bank notes 10A set on the bottom plate 25 and a checking surface in the lower section of a rotary guide plate 22 are separated from each other by a predetermined distance which is selected so as to afford to store the next bank notes even though they creases so that they are stacked up to an apparently lager thickness. During storage the stored bank notes are sustained to be pressed between the checking surface and the upper surface of the bottom plate 25 so as to correct their creases. During pay-out the creases of the bank notes have been corrected to a relatively large degree due to the above- mentioned pressing during storage, and the bottom plate is moved in accordance with the setting, thereby an optimum pressing condition for the paying out of the bank notes is fixed in accordance with the result of actual pay-out.
