To provide a bankbook issuing/collecting apparatus in which a non-registered bankbook is issued, a registered bankbook and a bankbook left from taking out are collected within a saved space and a structure is simplified.

Trays 1A-1C are shared as a non-registered bankbook housing part and a registered bankbook/left bankbook collecting part and both the parts are made compatible by a simple mechanism to save the space. A trace is fixed on links 2 and 3, the trays 1A-1C are vertically or obliquely moved by gears 4 and 5 bonded to the links 2 and 3, an empty state of the tray after issue is stored in a memory and afterwards, such a tray is used as a tray for collecting the bankbook left from taking out. It is detected by a sensor 6 whether or not a corresponding tray in the plurality of trays 1A-1C piled up longitudinally is located at a position matched to a carrier path and in response to an instruction from a control part, driving motors 14 and 15 are driven to rotate the gears 4 and 5 so that the tray is moved.
