This bill processing machine 1 is provided with a deposit money identification part 27 recognizing a bill put into a deposit port 7, a plurality of temporary storage parts 8a-8h temporarily storing bills, which are identified as genuine bills by the deposit money identification part 27, separately according their denominations, a plurality of bill storage parts 9a-9d respectively storing the bills temporarily stored in the temporary storage parts 8a-8h after confirmation of deposit, and a payment money identification part 58 identifying bills paid from the plurality of bill storage parts 9a-9d in payment. One bill storage part can receive bills from two or more temporary storage parts.
