Abstract:

To provide a barrel width variable roll which is extended in the adjustment range of roll barrel width, and has a simple structure and high rigidity.

In a rolling mill having a lateral pair of vertical rolls and a vertical pair of horizontal rolls including a sleeve roll fitted to a barrel portion of a rotating arbor, the horizontal roll has a heating device for heating the arbor from the inside to thermally expand the arbor. The outside diameter of the barrel of the arbor and the inside diameter of the sleeve roll are set to dimensions such that the sleeve roll can be axially moved relative to the barrel portion of the arbor before thermally expanded, and the barrel portion of the arbor is swollen when thermally expanded to fix the sleeve roll, and the sleeve roll is fitted to the barrel portion of the arbor before thermally expanded without fixation.
