NEW MATERIAL:Basic L-amino acid.L-malic acid salt crystal.
EXAMPLE: Neutral L-ornithine.L-malate dihydrate crystal.
USE: Medicine and nutrition enriching additive. Especially useful as an improved amino acid transfusion composition. The defects of a free basic L-amino acid or a besic L-amino acid hydrochloside, such as moisture absorption, bitter taste, acidosis caused by transfusion, etc. are improved by converting the basic L-amino acid into its L-malate.
PROCESS: L-Malic acid is dissolved in an aqueous solvent containing a free basic L-amino acid (e.g. L-lysine, L-ornithine, L-arginine, etc.) to adjust the pH of the solution within 6.5W7.5, and a hydrophilic organic solvent (e.g. methanol, acetone, etc.) is added to thereto, to separate out the desired crystal. The crystallization can be accelerated by adding a seed crystal. The molor ratio of the basic L-amino acid to L-malic acid is pref. 2 to 1.
