Steel ingot 34 as an object of soaking treatment is placed on the main section 42. A first spacer 54 is fixed to the carriage 26. The first spacer 54 is composed of ceramic fiber. A number of ceramic fibers are entwined with one another in clumps. Three sheets of second spacers 58 are fixed to the depth wall 30. The second spacers 58 are composed of a material the same as that of the first spacer 54.
