PURPOSE: To enable the temp. of a batch type reactor to be easily controlled and a product of high viscosity to be easily taken out of the reactor by clamping a plurality of heating or cooling medium-passable boxes arranged in parallel to form a reaction chamber between the boxes and by loosening the clamp to take the contents out of the chamber.
CONSTITUTION: A reactive substance is supplied to reaction chamber 8 formed by clamping 3 a plurality of boxes 1 arranged in parallel, and a heating or cooling medium is passed through boxes to react the substance in chamber 8. Clamp 3 is then loosened to open chamber 8, and a reaction product is taken out. The reactive substance is supplied to chamber 8 from supply inlet 4 or 5, and the reaction can be carried out under ordinary, elevated or reduced press. The reactor can be used in various chemical reactions, and it is suitable for use in reaction forming a product of high viscosity, esp. reaction producing a high molecular substance (polymer).
