The baton elevating apparatus comprises a sliding joint 20 changeable of a transmitting force for controlling torque transmitted from an electric motor 12 to a traction sheave 11, an interrupting joint 50 for interrupting the torque transmitted from the motor to the traction sheave, a controller 41 (motor-operated auxiliary control means) for providing an auxiliary force to elevate the baton by rotating the traction sheave via the sliding joint when an elevating rope 1 is operated, and a controller 42 (motor-operated control means) for elevating the baton by connecting the interrupting joint to rotate the traction sheave.
