Abstract:

PURPOSE: To charge a battery efficiently without decreasing the working efficiency of an overhead carrier.
CONSTITUTION: An overhead carrier 2 travels along traveling rails 1 laid on a ceiling, and is equipped with a handling device 21 moving up and down against a carrying body 6 via hanging belts 11. A battery B supplying a power source to the overhead carrier 2 is mounted on the upper portion of the handling device 21. A charging coupler 25 is fitted to the side portion of the handling device 21. A power source coupler 28 is fitted to a ground station ST conducting the transfer work of a load W between the overhead carrier 2 and the same. When the handling device 21 is made to move down to the ground station ST by the overhead carrier 2, respective couplers 25, 28 are connected to each other. In this state, the power source from a charger 30 connected to the power source coupler 28 is supplied to the battery B via the respective couplers 25, 28 so as to charge the battery B.
