To ensure insulation and enable data collection about each secondary battery even when high voltage battery is composed of serially-connected secondary batteries.
The battery system of the present invention comprises a plurality of battery modules that include a battery cell and a battery state estimating device for detecting and estimating the state of the battery cell connected in series-parallel. Each battery module has radio-communication antennas for communicating with each other in a one-to-one manner arranged on the upper surface and lower surface thereof. Setting apart the antennas on the upper and lower surface from each other can avoid communication failure caused by interference of signals transmitted from the communication antennas. The battery modules perform radio-transmission so that wiring that connects the battery modules is not necessary. As a result, short circuit due to failure is prevented, leading to improvement of reliability.
