Abstract:
To provide a lithium ion battery including a positive electrode active material that may cause phase transition during charging/discharging, in which input restriction (Li deposition suppression) of the lithium ion battery is properly performed.SOLUTION: A battery system includes a lithium ion battery including a positive electrode active material that may cause phase transition during charging/discharging, and an ECU (control unit) for controlling the charging/discharging of the lithium ion battery. The ECU calculates a positive electrode potential using a lithium diffusion equation considering the phase ratio of each phase of the positive electrode active material, calculates, as a negative electrode potential, a value obtained by subtracting the positive electrode potential from an inter-terminal voltage of the battery, and restricts the charging of the lithium ion battery such that the negative electrode potential does not fall below a lithium deposition limit line.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
